Leukemia, Lymphoma & Other Blood Cancers

Our blood cancer specialists diagnose and treat all stages and types of hematologic malignancies, including leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and myelodysplasia.

Nationally Ranked Care

UC San Diego Health is repeatedly ranked among the top 50 in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. We are also the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in San Diego County. This is the highest possible rating for a U.S. cancer center, and it means you’ll receive the best possible care and support. Studies show patient outcomes are better at NCI-designated cancer centers.

Diagnostic Tests

Accurately diagnosing your condition is a critical first step in developing your treatment plan. Diagnostic tests we use include chromosomal and molecular analyses, flow cytometry and expert hematologic pathology services.

Comprehensive, Personalized Care for Hematologic Malignancies

Receive the most effective standard-of-care approaches as well as investigational therapies offered through participation in clinical trials. Your care plan may include:

  • CAR T-cell therapy
  • Gene therapy
  • Monoclonal antibodies
  • Novel vaccine therapies
  • Radiation therapy, such as involved site radiotherapy, which spares cardiac and pulmonary tissue
  • Stem cell transplantation

Blood and Marrow Transplantation

The UC San Diego Health and Sharp HealthCare joint blood and marrow transplantation program is the largest blood and marrow transplant (BMT) program in San Diego and one of the largest in California. Clinical Trials

Advancing Cancer Care and Prevention

UC San Diego Health physicians are actively researching ways to improve cancer care. By joining a clinical trial, you may receive a new cancer treatment before it is available to the public. If your cancer has not responded to standard therapies, talk to your doctor about whether a clinical trial could be right for you.

Patient & Family Support Services
