Nurse Residency Program (NRP)
The Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.
The UC San Diego Health Nurse Residency Program is designed for newly licensed registered nurses (NLRNs) with less than six months of nursing experience to attain the knowledge, skills and abilities to meet standards of nursing practice to the practice setting.

- UC San Diego Health La Jolla - Jacobs Medical Center & Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center

Program Details
The program is designed to support our Nurse Residents with a comprehensive transition to practice experience.
The program includes:
New Employee Orientation (NEO)
The Nurse Resident attends organizational orientation. NEO includes Human Resources Introduction, Glucometer, Benefits, Epic and General Nursing Orientation (GNO). GNO includes socialization into the culture of the organization and introduction to the Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice.
Core Nurse Residency Program (NRP)
The Nurse Resident attends classes over a period of six months. These Core NRP classes are foundational to professional nursing and align with PTAP, NCICLE and the ANA scope and standards of practice.
Specialty Nurse Residency Program (NRP)
The Nurse Resident attends additional specialty classes based on the unit they are hired into and level of care. Specialty NRP classes are developed based on curricula that aligns with specialty nursing organizations.
Clinical Orientation and Preceptorship
The Nurse Resident is assimilated into their practice setting and is paired with a preceptor for Clinical Orientation for a minimum of three months. Nurse Residents also spend time with at least one interprofessional team member in the practice setting to observe and learn directly from them.
Mentorship
Open office hours for mentorship are integrated into the program. They are also oriented to a formal mentorship program using MentorLead.

Virtual Recruitment Webinars
We host virtual recruitment webinars twice a year, in April and October. These are posted on our job site as "Webinar Announcements" to register for. Webinars typically occur one week prior to the posting of our New Grad RN jobs.
