Information for Patients: Strike Activity on Nov. 20 and 21
A limited number of our unionized team members will be on strike on Wednesday, Nov. 20, and Thursday, Nov. 21. Rest assured, your clinical care teams — including your doctors, nurses, and pharmacists — will be here to care for you. All hospitals and clinics will remain open. We apologize in advance to our patients and their families who may be impacted.
We are committed to delivering excellent care and support services during this time. Please be aware of these possible impacts:
- If you have an appointment at our East Campus, Hillcrest or La Jolla campuses, please allow extra time for parking.
- Blood draw stations at some locations will be closed. See Lab Services for details.
- You may see picket lines on the public sidewalks and hear increased noise levels around the hospitals and clinics. If you experience excessive noise or disruption, please call our We Listen line at 619-543-5678.
- Due to a higher volume of calls to UC San Diego Health during this time, you may experience longer hold times than usual.
- We have added staff to maintain our commitment to caring for you, but you may experience some delays. We apologize for these circumstances and are doing everything possible to minimize the impact on you and your family.
This strike action is related to contract negotiations between the entire University of California (UC) system and the unions representing health care personnel. It affects all five UC medical centers in the state, including UC San Diego Health.
UC San Diego Health’s first priority, now and always, is to provide our patients with safe, high-quality medical care. If you experience excessive disruption during the strike, please call our We Listen line at 619-543-5678.
